Claire the Communications Manager

I'm Communications Manager for two of the largest live music arenas in the UK, as well as being a film blogger for the Vice blogging network. I have an exemplary rock leg and enjoy drinking cocktails with red lipstick and heels on. I live in the countryside with three mad cats and a lovely man, which keeps me sane.

1) The Eagles - Hotel California
I first heard this song when I was about ten years old and it was played on repeat around a hotel swimming pool in Spain. Therefore, I was perhaps brainwashed into loving it, but it's my favourite song ever. It reminds me of being young and happy holidays with my parents. I thought it was about a silly, spooky hotel. Little did I know it was about drugs - ha!

2) Bros - I Owe You NothingThis is a journey of my life in music, right? So, I can't fail to include my first boyband love - Bros. I was obsessed about them, even wearing the Grolsch bottle tops on my shoes. I thought I was going to marry Craig Logan! I used to watch this video on repeat and wanted to drive a suzuki.

3) Manic Street Preachers - Love's Sweet Exile

Growing up in the Essex countryside, I was following a ropey path of chart music and the same old. I always knew I was a bit 'different' and alternative, and thanks to my friend Gayle, I discovered the Manic Street Preachers when I was 15. They got me reading Camus and Burroughs and self-educating myself past the normal school curriculum. I wore black eyeliner and white jeans like Richey. I laped up his every move and when he carved 4-REAL into his arm, I believed it. My first proper gig was the Manics at Essex University, where I stood by the left speaker and nearly cried (this is the cause of my tinnitis now). Thank you Manics - you showed me the world and expanded my horizons. And thank you Gayle xx

4) Faith No More - Epic
The College Years. I nearly had my eyebrow pierced in the Colchester Institute toilets by Sarah when I was 16 because of Mike Patton. Can you imagine what my Mum would have said?! I wore purple DMs, leggings and floral dresses with holes in. I gave my Faith No More video to a guy called Rosie I was in love with and he never gave it back. Rosie, if you're listening now...do the honourable thing. Faith No More are one of the greatest rock bands EVER!

5) Oasis - Cigarettes and Alcohol
Why song 5? The University years! I used to go to indie night on a Friday and drink two bottles of K cider during TFI Friday. Getting ready with the girls was usually better than the night out. It wasn't a good night unless I woke up with a hangover, having drunk 5 pints, smoked a pack of 20 red marlboro and had bruises all over me. We used to think we were the bees' knees in our indie corner. WE WERE RIGHT. Cigarettes and alcohol WAS MY LIFE.

6) Andrew WK - Party Hard
The London years! After a bit of a tough time circa 2001/2002, I discovered Andrew WK and I thank this song for putting my life into a whirlwind and FUN direction. It was my twenties in London, I was on the rock scene, hanging out in the Crobar and simply not giving a frig. I went to lots of cool parties, lots of cool aftershows, had lots of mad fun and indeed did PARTY HARD. Thank you Andrew WK, I've got two tattoos because of this period and still love to jump up and down on my sofa to your song.

7) Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)

The Northampton Soundhaus years! When I was single in Northampton with a great bunch of friends around me, we lived for the Shakedown at the Soundhaus on a Friday night. We had 'Minkie corner' and no-one dared stray into our corner (see a corner theme here?) To be fair, I thought boys hated us but they just couldn't cope with our fierceness! Fair play to anyone who did approach us, you had balls of steel. The poor Shakedown DJs - I stole their beer from the fridge on the stage, put the sound down on their equipment, and barked songs at them. The highlight each week was always the stage invasion we instigated to Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies) These were fun times!

8) The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin

The first time my fiance came over for dinner, I made him sit through Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 which features The Moody Blues' Nights in White Satin in a terrifying hospital/slaughter setting. We made it 'our song'. This is OUR SONG XX

9) The Rolling Stones - Gimme ShelterAnd now I have to include two songs I absolutely adore - the Stones' Gimme Shelter being one of them. The Stones are my favourite band ever and this sends shivers up my spine. It was a close call between this and Miss You which is pure sex, but I've gone for the classic - you can't beat it. It's haunting, it's legendary and is just WOW.

10) The Doors - LA WomanThe Doors are my second favourite band ever. I've always said I should have been around in the late 60s to have seen The Doors at Whisky, I would have been a Morrison groupie for sure. The start to this song is one of the best ever. It's a trip.
