1) Oasis - The Importance Of Being Idle
I loved Oasis from day one, and still do. This particular track I felt was them back to form, which it seems was a final burst of light before their Supernova exploded.
The slower, longer version of this just builds and builds and sends every hait up on my arm in the guitar solos. This was boy stuff at boarding school!
A renaissance record for me, and my first man crush. Still unique to this day, even though I've stopped wearing the make up (yes, I did that).
My first gig ever of hundreds, and a huge part of my early musical years. Duran Duran epitomised the New Romantic era. I saw them 30 years later and they STILL rocked the crowd.
Every day should start with this playing. Uplifting, beautiful and hairs up all over my body every time. Just devine.
6) Metallica - Enter Sandman
No matter what state I'm in. Ill, hungover, sad or happy..THIS played at high volume, driving fast and trying to sing along makes me smile like a smiley thing.
My first rap record, but with GUITAR, this started an instant love of one of the most original groups EVER. Bad boys, rap, guitar riffs. It was perfect. Still to this day I know every one and posture. Looks good from a 44 year old.
Probably THE track that got me massively into the blues at an early age. That and The Blues Brothers. I think there are better blues songs, but this reminds me of an age where the world of blues was opening up for the first time.
Hard to choose from so many of one of my favourite bands of all time. This sums up how fresh they still are after so many years. Perfect blend of shouting, air guitar and air drums. IN YOUR FACE!
Tough to choose one again from all of their hundreds of amazing tracks. But this one, when I saw them live, had me pushing to the front, singing and crying simultaneously. This has to be my favourite song of all time.
