1) Eagles - The Last Resort
Always loved the album Hotel California and this ends the album so well. A song with a moral tale which builds perfectly.
A great artist and so difficult to pick one sonng of his from such an amazing catalogue but particularly like this one. Could have been any one of adozen others though in reality
3) Johnny Cash - Hurt
Another all time great and when you see the video that goes with it just adds to the poignancy. One occasion when a cover version works so well and to quote the well worn phrase he really did make this song his own.4) Blue October - The Worry List
Such an underrated band, and the Any Man in America album is quite awesome. This is one of many great tracks on it
5) Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody
One of the greatest songs ever written and thsi version just works so well
6) Deep Purple - Child in time
A real rock epic from one of the all time great rock bands. Builds into a crescendo and some great rock screams
7) Heart - Dreamboat Annie
The Wislosn sisters in gentle form on the title track from the brilliant album of the same name
8) Stevie Nicks - Italian Summer
Love Stevie Nicks voice and this song proves that she still has all the old magic there.
9) Foo Fighters - Dear Rosemary
One of the great rock bands around at the moment and this is my fave track from the last album. Again could have picked any one of a dozen Foo fighters songs
10) Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Has to be the live version from The Song remains the Same. A brilliant band on top form with what is a classic of our times
